Activity description
Head on an exhilarating RIB boat tour on the Lysefjord! Discover Stavanger's best spots: old Stavanger, Preikestolen, and the Whiskey Waterfall are all on the menu, and keep an eye out for wildlife such as porpoises on the way too!
You will meet your skipper and guide at Stavanger, where they will equip you with some goggles, warm overalls, and safety equipment for the journey. Then, on the boat, you will begin heading towards the Lysefjord. A steady start, you will begin by passing by Stavanger's many cultural monuments, including Tollboden, the old Stavanger city, and the Norwegian Oil Museum. Then, as you distance yourselves from the coast, the skipper will pick up the speed to a fun 35 knots.
On the way to Lysefjord, you will pass several idyllic islets and islands in the archipelago outside Stavanger. Here is a common spot for porpoise sightings in Stavanger, so keep your eyes peeled for some marine mammals paddling around the water. Another common sighting will be Norway's sea eagles. Many eagles nest here; observe them as they perch on the surrounding coast and soar high above the mountains, hunting for their next fishy meal.
Once in Lysefjord itself, you will cruise close to steep mountain walls and beautiful scenery. You will witness the iconic Preikestolen clifftop from water-level, and also skid by the Whiskey Waterfall for some pictures.
After one hour of expeditions on the clear Norwegian fjords, your skipper will redirect you back in the direction of Stavanger, where you will regain dry land. This exciting excursion onto the fjord water will give you a glimpse of all the unique nature surrounding Stavanger.
